Presbyterian Rites For Young Veteran Services were held here Monday from the Presbyterian Church for Jerry A. Skala, 37, who died in the Veterans Hospital in Grand Island Thursday. Reverend Lyle Graff officiated. He was born in Ord on May 22, 1926, to Fred and Tracy Parkos Skala, and spent his early life here attending Ord Schools. He was a World War II veteran and was employed as a trucker and in recent years as a carpenter. He married Agnes Penas June 16, 1951, at Ord and moved to Grand Island in 1960 where he was a member of the Platt-Deutsche Society. Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Connie; a son, Ronald; his mother, Mrs. Tracy Skala of Ord; four brothers, Ed of Greeley, William of St. Paul, James of Lexington and Rudy of Farnam; three sisters, Mrs. Will Penas, Ord, Mrs. Ed Zadina, Wilber, and Mrs. Elmer Penas, Grand Island. He was preceded in death by his father and three brothers. Burial was in the Ord Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted. Pallbearers were Myron Berggren and W. Engel Bruha of Grand Island, Frank Bruha of Scotia, Adrian Kush, Alvin Markvicka and Leonard Sich. The Ord Quiz - Thur, Jun 6 1963, Pg 8, Col 8
