Thanks to contributor #47418636; GREELEY Helen Skala, 92, of Greeley died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004, at Greeley Care Home. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Ord Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Mike Chase officiating. Burial will be in the Ord Bohemian Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Mrs. Skala was born June 17, 1912, on a farm southwest of Ord to Ignac and Anna (Moravecek) Nevrivy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward, on Feb. 11, 1969. Survivors of the immediate family include a daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Darrel Byerly of Scotia; three sisters, Mrs. Lillian Jeratowski of Columbus, Mrs. Minnie Maly of Ord, and Mrs. Eldon Bruha of Ord; and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Betty Nevrivy of Arcadia. Also surviving are a grandson and his wife, Keith and Glenda Byerly. Helen grew up and attended school in rural Valley County. She married Edward Skala on April 18, 1933, at Ord. They lived east of Ord until 1948, and then moved to Greeley. She lived in Greeley until 1993. She then moved to Ord and resided at Parkview until 2002. From September of 2002 until her death, she was a resident of the Greeley Care Home. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, cooking and baking. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Ernest Nevrivy. Memorials may be given to the Greeley Care Home or the family. From the Grand Island Independent Newspaper
