May He who was sent to bind up the broken hearted, reign in that home. Our prayer is that the family will meet, unbroken, in "the house not made by hands." Daughter of James David and Minnie Walton Brownlee (1917 — Beatrice Brownlee Edwards) News of the sudden death of Mrs. J. W. Edwards reached Lebanon this morning, when her body arrived here from her late home in the Joplin district for interment in New Hope Cemetery at Russ, near which latter place Mrs. Edwards and family resided up to a few months ago. Mrs. Edwards had been in failing health for several years but not to such an extent as to cause her family and friends uneasiness. A few days ago, however, her condition became such as to necessitate her removal to St. John's Hospital at Joplin, where she passed away at 4 o'clock Tuesday morning. Funeral services will be held at New Hope Baptist church, of which Mrs. Edwards was a member, tomorrow (Friday) afternoon, conducted by the pastor, Rev. R. B. Carnett Mrs. Edwards leaves a husband and four children; Lloyd, aged 13; Chester, 11, Nell, 4 and Fern, 3 - to mourn her death. She is also survived by her mother, Mrs. L. H. Hough, of this county; a sister Mrs. J. R. Southard of Joplin, and two brothers, B. M. Brownlee of Wray, Colorado, and J. R. Brownlee of Gilford, Montana; her stepfather and the following stepsisters and stepbrothers: Mrs. Homer Scott of Springfield, Mrs. John Tobey, Enoch Hough of Colorado, and Harlan Hough of near Russ. All of the above excepting J. R. Brownlee and Mrs. Tobey are here for the funeral. Mrs. Edwards was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Brownlee and was born in Vernon county 32 years ago, coming to Laclede county at an early age and spending the greater part of her life in the Russ neighborhood. She was a woman of an unusually sweet and loving disposition, a devoted wife and mother, and her influence for good will long be felt by all who were so fortunate as to know her. The bereaved ones have the sympathy of many friends in this their hour of deep affliction.
