JOSEPH WILLIAM EDWARDS (Sake) Funeral services for Joseph William Edwards were held at 11:00 am. Saturday, February 23 at Palmer Funeral Home with Lester L. Roper of Springfield officiating. Mrs. Edward Kapp, Soloist, accompanied by Miss Marcella Bamett, organist, sang "O Walk With God," and "Jehovah God, My Shepherd." Interment was in New Hope Cemetery. Escorts were Sherman Edwards, Floyd Smith, Chester Edwards, Sidney Barr Jr., Stanley Scott and Roland Ford. Joseph William Edwards, son of the late John and Catherine Bohanon Edwards, was born in Laclede County, May 10, 1879. He passed away suddenly at Durant Oklahoma Wednesday, February 20, 1963. He grew to manhood near Lebanon but left here in 1916. His occupation was a building contractor and he traveled all over the Western states in his work. For the past 7 years he has made his home in Durant, Oklahoma. He was married to Beatrice Brownlee in 1902. They were the parents of four children. His wife preceded him in death in 1917. Survivors include - two sons, Loyd Edwards. Durant Oklahoma, and Chester Edwards, Vinita Oklahoma. Two daughters, Mrs. Jack (Nell) Perrin, Neward California and Mrs. Fern Smith, Hayward California. Thirteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren also survive Mr. Edwards.
