Bio

Great Falls Tribune (MT), 27 Oct 1958 James R. Brownlee was born in Mountain Grove, MO, May 1, 1883, son of James D. and Minnie Waldon Brownlee. He grew to manhood there and on Dec. 9, 1909, he was married to Malissa Vermillion in Delto, MO. They farmed there until 1911 when they moved to Hartline, Wash. for one year and in 1912 they came to Gildford, Mont., where they continued farming until Aug. 1945 when they retired and made their home in Kalispell. James was survived by his wife Malissa in Kalispell; one son, Mack, in Gildford; three daughters, Mrs. Phillip Doughty in Augusta, Mont., Mrs. Dean Howey, in Seattle, Wash., and Mrs. Edith Kennedy, in Coquille, Ore., and ten grandchildren. One son, James, died in Gildford early in 1958. He was also survived by a brother B.N. Brownlee of Wray, Colo.
