Topeka Capital-Journal, Tuesday, May 7, 1985, page 20: Ralph Elmer Hudspeth Ralph Elmer Hudspeth, 87, 619 Wayne, died Monday, May 6, at his home. Mr. Hudspeth was a retired office clerk for the Rock Island Railroad. He was born Oct. 21, 1897, at Ogden in Riley County, the son of Charles McDowell and Laura Luvenia Bush Hudspeth. He lived in Topeka since 1917. He was married to Ida Opal Melton March 12, 1938, at Cottonwood Falls. She died March 20, 1981. He was also preceded in death by two sons, Leroy Gale Hudspeth and Ralph E. Hudspeth, Jr. Survivors include five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Newcomer-Diffenderfer Funeral Home. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Hudspeth will lie in state after 1 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 822 W. 6th, 66606.
