Hudspeth Topeka Daily Capital, Thursday, June 22, 1978, page 40: Ralph E. Hudspeth Jr. Ralph E. Hudspeth Jr., 57, 1817 Burnett Road, died Wednesday at a Topeka hospital following a long illness. He was born April 8, 1921, at Topeka. He attended elementary and secondary schools at Paola and was graduated from Paola High School. He returned to Topeka in 1945. Mr. Hudspeth served in the Army from Aug. 18, 1942 to Nov. 21, 1945. He was a nursing assistant at Topeka VA Hospital from 1945 to 1977. He was a member of the Methodist church and Philip Billard Post No. 1650 of Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was married to Katharina Empt Feb. 9, 1946 in Heidelberg, Germany. She survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Helga Gentry, 4739 W. 33rd Ter., and Mrs. Gail Ann Mason, 424 E. Paramore; his father, Ralph E. Hudspeth, Sr., 619 Wayne; his mother, Elsie Fury, 515 Horne; and seven grandchildren. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home. Philip Billard Post No. 1650 will conduct graveside services at Mount Hope Cemetery.
