Bio

Azalia Brooks Barnes Dickerson died Dec. 21, 1980. She was born July 1, 1891, Lehi, to James and Harriett Jackson Brook. She married Joseph E. Barnes Sept. 1, 1909. He died April 16, 1949. She married [William Walter] Dickerson March 17, 1954. He died 26 years ago. She was a Relief Society organist and a member of the DUP. She was a visiting teacher for 35 years. She is survived by four sons and three daughters: Elwin, Ernest L, C. Jack, Freeman J., Mrs. Charles (Evelyn) Slater, Mrs. Norman R. (June) Winters, all of Lehi; Mrs. Eldon (Lois) Turner, Midvale; 25 grandchildren; 54 great grandchildren; 12 great great grandchildren. Funeral services were held December 24 in the Wing Mortuary. Bishop L. Dee Colledge announced the service and spoke of the wonderful qualities Mrs. Dickerson exemplified throughout her lifetime. Freeman Barnes spoke the opening prayer. "That Wonderful Mother of Mine" was sung by Johnny Barnes accompanied by Amy Barnes. Collette Stillman gave the biographical sketch and the concluding speaker was Dale Hadfield. Another song, "I'll Take You Home Again Kathleen" was sung by Johnny Barnes. F. Gordon Barnes offered the benediction and the dedicatory prayer at Lehi City Cemetery was given by Elwin Barnes. Pallbearers were Elwin Barnes, Ernest L. Barnes, Jack Barnes, Freeman J. Barnes, F. Gordon Barnes and Lyle J. Barnes. The many beautiful flowers were arranged by the Lehi Seventh Ward Relief Society.
