Herald Coaster, June 5, 1958: Final rites were held from the First Baptist Church, East Bernard, Tuesday morning for John Leslie Maden, 71. Rev. Henry Archer officiated. Mr. Maden was born in Alabama in 1887 and in 1907 he moved to Groesbeck. In 1918 they moved to Lane City and later to Glen Flora. In 1926 they made their home in East Bernard Community where they resided at the time of his death. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. J.L. Maden; four sons, Homer of Pasadena, William of Bay City and Reginald and Roy of Sweeny; seven daughters, Mrs. W.H. Mansel of Sweeny, Mrs. Fred Evans of Rosenberg, Mrs. R.E. Niswonger of Ohio, Mrs. Edwin Litvik of Rosenberg, Mrs. R.L. Guyet of East Bernard, Mrs. Dorothy Rodgers of East Bernard, and Mrs. Herbert Warnicke of Rosenberg; 23 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Luther of Wharton and Ludie of El Campo; and one sister, Mrs. W.J. Scheller of League City. Interment was held in the Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Triska Funeral Home.
