The Wellington Leader February 27, 1975 Lawrence E. Brisbin, 87, who farmed in the Quail area for 50 years and who has lived in the county for 70 years, died at 3:30 p.m. Monday, February 24, in Collingsworth General Hospital. He had been in ill health a number of months. Upon retiring from farming, Mr. and Mrs. Brisbin moved into Wellington about 1953. Mr. Brisbin was a strong community worker and especially supported better schools in the Quail area as long as he lived there. Born in Hill County March 8, 1887, he was the son of Henry and Cumi Brisbin. He came here from Hill County in 1904. Mr. Brisbin was a Methodist. He was married to Miss Vester Rankin November 28, 1904, near Quail. Surviving Mr. Brisbin are his wife, Mrs. Vester Brisbin; two daughtes, Mrs. Cleo Messer and Mrs. Travis McGuire of Wellington and Jack Brisbin of Amarillo; 7 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Mr. Brisbin helped to rear two grandson, Jimmy Forrester and Benny Forrester of Wellington.
