Services for Alfred E. Simmons, 84, of Dallas will be at 11:00 A.M., Monday, July 15, 2013 at Simmons Hill Baptist Church, in Diana, with Brother Pete Dugger officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home in Diana. Interment will be at Bluff Springs (Simmons) Cemetery. He passed away July 12, 2013, at his home. Alfred was born October 3, 1928 in Simmons Community, Harrison County to James Cephas & Delia Lou Simmons. He was retired from the Garland Water Department where he was a supervisor. Alfred was a member of Dallas Elks Lodge #71. Alfred is survived by his wife: Mary Frances King Simmons, son: Alfred "Allen" Simmons of Atlanta, Georgia, brothers: Jimmy Simmons & wife Randa of Columbus, TX, Joe Simmons of Longview, Gary Simmons & wife Regina of Diana, sisters: Dorothy Faye Stanley of Pittsburg, Katie Lou Stanley of Ore City, Mary Anne Carter of Gilmer, and Jean Clark & husband Bob of Baskin, LA. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Johnny and James Simmons, sisters: Flora Dean Lynch, Wanda Frazier, and Cassie Gage. The family will receive visitors on Monday, July 15, 2013, 10 11 A.M. at Simmons Hill Baptist Church, prior to the service. Published in Dallas Morning News on July 14, 2013
