Mary Anne Carter, 86 of Gilmer passed on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 in Mt. Pleasant, Texas. Mary Anne was born on January 11, 1935 to the late James and Delia Lou Knight Simmons in Harrison County. Mary Anne worked as an LVN at the Gilmer Ragland Hospital and worked for Dr. Childress for several years. She also worked at Stanford Uni Hospital in California, Good Shepard, and Longview Regional, Mary Anne devoted her whole life to caring for others and truly had a servant heart. Mary Anne also loved going fishing and working in her gardens. Mary Anne is survived by her sons, James Carter, Sr. of Gilmer and Dennis Carter and wife, Tina of Mt. Pleasant; daughter, Debra K. Carter of Gilmer; brothers, JD, Joe, and Gary Simmons; sisters, Jean Clark and Katie Stanley; 12 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Charolette Diane Gentry; 3 brothers and 4 sisters. Funeral service will be held Saturday, March 27, 2021, 2:00 P.M. at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer with Bro. Mike Kessler officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Interment will be held at Bluff Springs Cemetery.
