Bio
Elsie Moravek, daughter of John M. and Anna Moravek, was born July 23, 1886, near Belleville, Kan., and died August 7, 1951, at Fairbury, Neb., at the age of 65 years and 14 days. She became the wife of Walter F. Gerard on October 9, 1917. They farmed near Fairbury, Neb., where they lived as tenants on the same farm for 31 years. In the winter of 1948 Mr. and Mrs. Gerard moved into their home at Fairbury, where they continued to live until her death. Mrs. Gerard was a kind and loving wife, devoted to her husband and her home. She was one who remembered her neighbors and friends in sorrow and in joy, greeting them with a smile and cheerful ways which will always be remembered by those who knew her. Elsie Gerard leaves to mourn her departure her husband, Walter Gerard; three brothers, John R. Moravek of Topeka, Joseph H. of Haddam, and Adolph M. of Munden; two sisters, Mrs. Emma Shackleton of Manhattan, and Mrs. Kristie Peterka of Belleville; other relatives and a host of friends. Preceding her in death were her parents and an infant sister. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church at Fairbury, Neb., conducted by the Rev. Mr. Johnston. Burial was in Fairbury cemetery by the Fraum funeral home, at 1 o'clock Friday, August 10.
