Mr. Turek was a former Butler county resident, having been born on a farm near Octavia, December 13, 1895. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. John Turek. He had farmed in Butler county, then near Bee and lastly near Staplehurst. The marriage of Edward Turek and Miss Leona Makes took place in Holy Trinity church, Brainard, October 16, 1916. The immediate family of Mr. Turek, with the exception of the son in the navy, who was home on leave the week before his father's death, was present at the funeral services which were held in the Ulysses Catholic church Saturday morning, May 20, at 10 o'clock. Rev. Maurice Downey conducted the services, the church choir furnishing the music. The pall bearers were John Bartunek, Cyril Hottovy, Fred Hottovy, John Liska, Frank Plisek and John Turek.
