Seward County Independent (Seward, Nebr.), August 11, 1982, p. 3B, col. 2 LEONA TUREK Leona Turek, 87, of Ulysses, died Monday, Aug. 2. She was born Jan. 25, 1895, to Vaclav and Mary Plisek Makes in Rokuvane, Czechoslovakia. She married Edward Turek on Oct. 16, 1916. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ulysses, and the church Altar Society. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1944. Survivors include four sons, Edward of Seward, Johnnie of Ulysses, Ernest of Columbus and Arnold of Seward; two brothers, Stanley Makes of Wahpeton, N.D., and Ludvik Tuna of Mooreton, N.D., four sisters, Julia Hotovy of Dwight, Gabriella (Mrs. Fred) Hotovy of Schuyler, Frances Zimmerman of Minnesota and Mary (Mrs. Eutychius) Janu of Frazee, Minn., seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren. Services were held Friday, Aug. 6, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ulysses, Msgr. George Schuster and Father Clarence Reisdorff officiating. Burial was in the Ulysses Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers were Edward Murphy, Lloyd Jay Morrow, Dan Hilger, Darwin Jaster, Roland From and Pat Augustine.
