Bio

Mrs. Irene Marie (Dvoracek) Whitman, age 86, of Garland died April 8, 1992 at Treemont Retirement Health Center. Rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. April 10 at Lyons Chapel in Rockwall. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11:30 a.m. April 11 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Garland with the Reverend Robert Cox, Celebrant. Interment was at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Rowlett. Mrs. Whitman was the daughter of the late John and Mary Dvoracek of West. She moved to Dallas in 1926 where later she owned and operated "Irene's Beauty Shop." She married Leo A. Whitman in 1941. He preceded her in death on October 17, 1974. Her son, Leo A. Whitman, Jr. died on March 1, 1985. Survivors are a son, Paul Whitman of Dallas; two daughters, Catherine Bertrand of Richardson and Teresa Lewis of Garland; a brother, Louis Dvoracek of West; sisters, Christine Dvoracek, Mary Jansa and Julia Dlabaj, all of Dallas, Agnes Mullins of San Bernardino, California, Albina Svrcek of West, Anne Horton of Elm Mott, Betty Payne of Sedalia, Colorado, and Tracy Morse of Waco; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
