The Narka News, January 25, 1918 JOSEF CHOPP Joseph Chopp was born in State of Tabor, Okres Sedlec county, Bohemia, August 15, 1862, and passed away at this home south of Narka Saturday January 5, 1918, at the age of 56 years, 4 months and 21 days. He came to America with his parents when a lad of twelve, and a few years later came to Republic county, Kansas, locating on a farm. He was married at the age of twenty-two to Miss Mary Marsicek to which union were born nine children, six sons; John, Joe, Ed, Charley, Willie, and Frankie, all living except Charley who died February 20, 1917; three daughters, Mrs. Barbara (Ed) Kobes and Mrs. Frances (Mike) Knedlik, of Narka, and Mrs. Emma (Frank) Roubinek, of Smith Center, KS. Mr. Chopp had been in failing health for some time but since the death of his son Charley, there had been a very noticeable change in him. He leaves to mourn his wife, five sons, three daughters, an aged father, who makes his home with them; one brother, John Chop, of Haddam, KS.; one half-brother, Peter Lallak, of near Haddam; three sisters, Mrs. John Marsicek, of Narka, KS., Mrs. John Hromas, of Texas, and Mrs. John Kasha, of Canada. The funeral was held at the home and burial was in (Bohemian) National Cemetery south of Narka,Kansas
