Bio
Alfred Hoppe, 81, of Crawford,a farmer and rancher died Tuesday in a Clifton hospital. Alfred Hoppe was born on March 18, 1898, at Osage, TX. His parents were William and Betty (Engelbrecht) Hoppe. On December 16, 1920, he was married in Waco, Texas to Anna Louise Sandhoff. They moved to the Prairie Chapel Community where Alfred did farming and ranching until he became ill Saturday and had a massive stroke early Sunday Morning. He passed away at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the age of 81. Survivors: his wife, Anna Hoppe; three daughters, Mrs Gordon (Ima) Bekkelund, Mrs. Ervin (Edna) Gauer, Mrs Erwin (Ann Lou) Blum, all of Waco; two sons, Alvin Ray Hoppe of Valley Mills, Vernon Gene Hoppe of Waco; two sisters, Mrs. Jacob (Minnie) Hodel of Gatesville, Mrs. Ernest (Olga) Weiss of McGregor; two brothers, Erich Hoppe of McGregor, Willie Hoppe of Gatesville; eleven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren. Active pallbearers; Clarence Engelbrecht, Jerry Gauer, Clodius Westerfield, Kermit Dreyer, James Luning, Marvin Mattlage. Honorary pallbearers: Sunday School Class. Cole Funeral Home, McGregor, TX 840-2880.
