An Obituary from "Gatesville Messenger & Star Forum," Thursday, July 5, 1984: Willie "Bill" Hoppe Jr. of Osage, 80, died Saturday at Canterbury Villa. Mr. Hoppe was a farmer and rancher in the Coryell City area for many years before retiring in 1972. Born in Osage on Sept. 9, 1903, to Willie and Betty Hoppe Sr., Mr. Hoppe married the former Antha Whisenhunt on Jan. 12, 1928. They made their home near Coryell City. Mr. Hoppe was a member of the East Main Church of Christ. Lloyd Hall officiated at his funeral, held last Monday at Scott's Funeral Chapel. Mr. Hoppe is survived by his wife, his sister Olga Weiss of McGregor, and numerous nieces and nephews.
