Bio

Crawford - Anna Hoppe, a Crawford homemaker, died Monday at a McGregor nursing home. She was 89. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. today at Canaan Baptist Church near Crawford, the Rev. Louis Day officiating. Burial will be at Canaan Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Hoppe was born Jan. 8, 1902, in Gay Hill, moved to the Crawford and McGregor area at a young age and attended school near McGregor. She married Alfred Hoppe on Dec. 16, 1920, in Waco; he died on June 5, 1979. Mrs. Hoppe was a member of Canaan Baptist Church. Survivors include three daughters, Ima Bekkelund, Edna Gauer and Ann Blum, all of Waco; two sons Ray Hoppe of Valley Mills and Vernon (Gene) Hoppe of Waco; two brothers, Otto Sandhoff of McGregor and Willie Sandhoff of Gatesville; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Cole Funeral Home in MeGregor is in charge of arrangements.
