Added from a data base at the South Dakota State Historical Society: www.history.sd.gov. The first name is spelled Joannes in the SD data base. I am speculating that the given name was Latinized in the records of the church; Jan is the usual Czech spelling. From Ancestry I figure this is John Carda, b. 1859 and died May 10, 1935, whose first wife was Marie Pesicka (1866-1928) and secondly married Mrs. Katherine Vacek (1863-1933).
