Funeral Services Held Saturday For T. B. Spurgin Funeral services were held Saturday at 3:30 o'clock in the Turrentine-Jackson Chapel for Thomas Benton Spurgin, 73, who died Friday at 12:30 noon at his home 1511 Oak Street, McKinney. The Rev. T. W. Sisterson, pastor of the First Christian Church, and Rev. Dyer, pastor of Murphy, conducted the service with burial in Fitzhugh cemetery at Forrest Grove. He was born in Collin County July 17, 1880, the son of E. T. and Margaret Spurgin. He lived in the county all of his life where he engaged in farming before retiring a few years ago. He had been in ill health the past three months. He was a member of the Christian Church. He married Miss Lizzie Bell of McKinney, who with the following children, survive: eight sons: Cecil Spurgin, of Dallas; B. B., Earn, Nelson, T. J., John, Milford and O. W. Spurgin, all of McKinney; and three daughters: Mrs. Cecil Funderburg, of Dallas; Mrs. C. M. Matney, and Mrs. J. W. Eastham, both of McKinney; twenty-six grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. The Courier-Gazette. September 5, 1953. Page 8.
