Daughter of J.H. Cook and E. Elam. MRS. MARGURETTE SPURGIN DIES AT MCKINNEY HOME Death Comes Saturday Night After Two Weeks Illness Of Paralysis; Deceased Was Native Of Missouri: Funeral Services Held Monday Morning. Mrs. Margurette Jane Spurgin 84, died at her home in Rockwall street, this city, Saturday night at 11 o'clock, after a two week illness as a result of paralysis. Born in Missouri Nov 9, 1855, she was before her marriage to C. T. Spurgin, Miss Marguerite Jane Cook.She was brought to Texas and Collin County when a child by her parents and had lived State and County for 81 years.She has been a resident of McKinney for 30 years, where she was a member of the Christian Church. Surviving children are Jim Spurgin, Melissa Rev. Cardis Spurgin, McKinney: Tom Spurgin, McKinney, Route 4; Mrs. J E Maynor, McKinney, Route 1. She is also survived by several grandchildren and great grand- children. The deceased as preceded to the grave by her mother and father and three children. Funeral services were held at Forest Grove Church Monday Morning at 11 o'clock with D Clifford S. Weaver and Rev. A L Clinkinbeard, conducting. Burial followed in Fitzhugh Cemetery with Crouch Funeral Home in charge. Pallbearers were grandsons of the deceased. The Courier-Gazette. September 20, 1940. Page 1.
