E. T. SPURGEON TO ETERNAL REST DIED AT HOME IN THIS CITY TO- DAY AFTER LINGERING ILLNESS. After an illness of several weeks of dropsey E. T. (Elcaney) Spurgeon, aged 63 years and 2 months, died at his home on Rockwall Street this afternoon at o'clock. Deceased was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Spurgin. He was born in Tennessee; but when only seven years old moved to Texas with his parents, who settled at Lucas, this county, where he resided until about sig years ago when he moved to McKinney. Besides his wife, formerly Miss Margie Jane Cook, a daughter of J. H. Cook of this city, the deceased is survived by three sons and two daughters as follows: Jim and Tom Spurgeon of Lucas; Rev. Cordis Spurgeon of Wetsel: Mesdames John Maynard and John Ward of McKinney. He is also survived by two brothers and two sisters, J. B. Spurgeon of Lucas; Jim Spurgeon of Montana; Mrs. Sarah Ballew of near Allen; and Mrs. Callie Tant of near San Antonio. He also has a half brother and half sister, R. P. Spurgeon and Mrs. Ida Armstrong, living at Lucas. Mrs. Spurgeon is a sister to Bet Cook and Mrs. Albert Scott of McKinney: Rev. Mack Cook of Ft. Worth; and J. W. Cook of Lucas. The body was taken in charge by the Sam J. Massie Undertaking establishment and prepared for burial. The interment will be made at Forest Grove about 12 o'clock Tuesday. Mr. Spurgeon was for many years. one of the county's most prosperous one of the county's most prosperous by a large number of relatives and friends. We extend condolence to the bereaved family.
