Son of Delbert Walker and Cyntha Elizabeth Park Husband of Elsie Viola Baxter married 20 July 1923 in Provo, Utah, Utah History. I am the ninth child of Delbert and Cythnia Park Walker. There were thirteen children in our family, five girls, and eight boys. I was born Nov. 4, 1907, at Pleasant Grove, Utah in the old home down on the State Road. We grew up on a farm; so there was always plenty of work to keep everyone busy. There were herding, feeding, and milking the cows, feeding chickens, pigs, and horses, or working in the beets, hay, corn, or grain. I attended the Pleasant Grove grade schools and high school. I married Elsie Viola Baxter on July 20, 1923, in Provo, Utah. We moved down to Moroni, Utah on Dr. B.C. Linebaugh's ranch and stayed for two years. It was a wonderful experience and we made many friends. Then we came back to Pleasant Grove; I got a job at the Ironton Steel Plant on the Coke ovens, where I worked for 21 1/2 years. Then I was transferred to the Geneva Steel Co. as a foreman in the Sintering Plant, where I still work. We had one boy and four girls. The boy died when he was one year old. We moved to Provo, Utah in 1926 and into our home 26 years ago, where we still live. On the 30th day of March 1950, we were married and sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. We had four children sealed to us. Then we went to the Temple in St. George, Utah, on the 25th of April in 1953 and had Dora-Dean sealed to us, which made us very happy to have all our family sealed to us for eternity. We have 10 wonderful grandchildren. We are active in the Nineteenth Ward in Provo, and happy to do the few things we can do. We have many happy memories of the times when all the family got together, while mother and father were alive. We recall helping with the hay, and beets, thrashing or house-cleaning or bottling fruit, or going on a picnic up the canyon, sitting around a big campfire and making beds all over the ground. Yes, they were wonderful times. We wonder sometimes if it would have been more helpful if we had stayed home with our families. But Dad and Mother always had a welcome smile when we came. They wouldn't let us know for the world, that they were relieved when we took our families and went home. The potatoes and gravy, ham and eggs, the big bowl of sliced peaches or raspberries, the apple pies, or a big rice pudding seemed to taste better in those days. We always have a family reunion at Canyon Glen in Provo Canyon on Dad's birthday- the 27th of June, with most of the family attending. We also have a Christmas party for the married folks. This year it was held in the Lindon Hall; thirty-eight enjoyed a lovely chicken dinner and games. We hope our own family will have the wonderful recollections that we have. By Oran Clyde Walker
