Bio

Stella Mann married Gertha Bruce Arnett on Jan. 1, 1908 at her parents' home south of Goodlett, Texas. They farmed in Hardeman county until 1942, when they moved to Stillwater, Oklahoma. In 1951, they left the "city" life and relocated to a farm outside Shawnee, Oklahoma. Bruce died there in the summer of 1957, and a few years later, Stella moved to Perkins, Oklahoma to be closer to a daughter and grandchildren. When her health began to fail, she went to live near her other daughter in Miami, Oklahoma. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and a woman who treated all she met with kindness, dignity and respect. She also made the best chicken-and-dumplings and peach cobbler west of the Mississippi.
