Baltimore passenger lists: Dora Hoffmeyer, age 18, (with parents and 6 siblings) arrived March 1892 on the Stuttgart. Family from Neenburg, Germany and destination is Nebraska. **************************************** The Hebron Journal-Register (Nebraska) Wednesday y- June 21, 1961 Obituary -- Caroline Wilhelmine Virus Caroline Wilhelmine Dora Virus, the daughter of Heinrich Hoffmeyer and Friedericka nee Schmidt, was born in Hanover, Germany, on February 20, 1874, and passed away at Hebron, Nebraska, on May 31, 1961, at the age of 87 years, 3 months, and 11 days. She was baptized on March 15, 1874, in Hanover, Germany, and also confirmed there in the Lutheran faith on March 25, 1888. She came with her family to the United States in March of 1892. On April 20, 1899, she was united in marriage to Frank Virus at Deshler, Nebr. To them were born six sons and two daughters. They lived on farms near Deshler, Superior and Athol, Ks., moving to the farm southeast of Hebron in 1917. In 1951 they moved in to Hebron. Mrs. Virus was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Hebron, and faithful in the Christian life. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and one brother. She is mourned by her husband, six sons, Henry, Ernest, Herman, Walter, George, and Ludwig; two daughters, Mrs. Augusta Engel and Mrs. Meta O'Connell, all of Hebron, 13 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Meta Stobbe of Beatrice, two brothers Henry of Hebron and Gotfried of Deshler, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Services were held Saturday, June 3 at 2 p.m. in the Grace Lutheran Church, with Pastor John Northwall officiating. Interment in Rose Hill Cemetery. Pall bearers were her six sons.
