Ann Shimek has been peacefully called from this life, February 17th, by her heavenly Father. Her life served as a perfect example of love and service to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Ann Shimek was born on April 3, 1914, in Megargel, Texas, as one of 10 children. She became the loving and devoted wife of AJ Shimek (deceased) in 1938. Ann was a mother to three children: Roberta Stanley (Canyon) and special friend, Louis Camp, Vic Shimek and wife, Jan (Wolfforth), and Shirley Gillespie and husband, Harold D. (San Antonio). Ann and her family were active members of St. John Neumann and St. Elizabeth Catholic churches in Lubbock, Texas, since moving to Lubbock in 1945. She was in the Catholic Daughters, Altar Society as well as the KCettes. Ann was the proud grandmother of nine grandchildren, Chris Stanley and wife, Gwen, of Tempe, Ariz., Kevin Stanley and wife Shirley of Heath, Texas, Andy Shimek, Cary Shimek and wife, Shonda, Cody Shimek and wife, Brandi, Candi Shimek, Christa Shimek, Stacey Levin and husband, Jason, and Anthony Gillespie, and 13 great-grandchildren. Ann loved to garden and was well-known for this in her neighborhood. Ann had the ability to find God's beauty and grace in all things from flowers to family. Those who knew her will forever be changed and blessed by her love.
