''''''''''''''''''' Butler County Press (David City, Nebr.), November 11, 1943, p. 1, col. 6 A MOTHER PASSES ON DEATH OF LINWOOD WOMAN Mrs. Aloisie Macholan Died Thursday, November 4 Linwood, Nov. 8 – Funeral services for Mrs. Aloisie Macholan, 74, who died in her home Thursday morning, Nov. 4, following a long illness with diabetes and complications, were held Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m. from the Macholan farm home and at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Catholic church. Rev. Boniface Tomek officiated and the following acted as pallbearers: Anton Barcal, Frank Barcal, James Bunda, F. J. Macholan, Frank Ustohal and Julius Ustohal. Interment was in St. Mary's cemetery. Among the out-of-town relatives and friends present at the services were: Mr. and Mrs. Frank Zakovec, James Zakovec, Mrs. Joseph Bruning and Mrs. Harold Bell, Fremont; Mr. and Mrs. William Lanspa, Brainard; Mr. and Mrs. John F. Macholan and son, Irvin, Wahoo; Miss Irma Macholan, Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Malovec, David City; James Vech, Prague, and Mrs. Mary Kralik, Weston. Mrs. Macholan was one of four daughters born to Mr. and Mrs. John Komarek in Czechoslovakia, her birth date being January 6, 1869, coming to this country with her parents and sisters at the age of 11 years. The Komarek family located near Abie and it was here that Aloisie Komarek met and married Joseph Macholan, date of the last event being November 22, 1888. Two daughters and five sons were born to Mr. and Mrs. Macholan. One daughter, Mrs. Mary Shonka, preceded her mother in death 23 years. Mr. Macholan died July 11, 1934; leaving the following survivors: Daughter, Mrs. Winifred Zakovec, Fremont; five sons, Joe W., Steve, Rudy and Louis of Linwood and John F. of Wahoo; 12 grandchildren, one great grandchild and one sister, Mrs. James Bruner of Bruno. The two sisters who have passed on are Mrs. Frank Barcal and Mrs. Anton Oboril, both of Abie. ___ Card of Thanks – We are deeply grateful for assistance given us during the last illness of our mother and for floral offerings following her passing.
