PIERCE FANE TURNER TURNER, PIERCE FANE Age 87, of Trussville, Alabama passed away on December 18, 2012 surrounded by his family. He was born January 19, 1925, in Somerville, Alabama. He served his country in the Army during WWII with the occupation forces in Nagasaki, Japan. His profession was a master die maker. He designed and crafted dies for many companies in the Southeast. He retired from International Paper Company after a 46 year career. Mr. Turner was passionate about coaching youth sports. He served as coach and Commissioner of boy's baseball in Birmingham, Alabama, in the 1950's and helped develop the girl's softball league in Trussville, Alabama. He spearheaded the effort for the first girl's softball field in Trussville. Mr. Turner was a devoted volunteer at First Baptist Church of Trussville. He worked tirelessly serving Wednesday Night Supper and generously supported the church ceramic class ministry. Pierce was preceded in death by his parents, John Andrew Turner and Mary Beasley Turner. He loved fishing and gardening. His gardens were legendary and his family, friends, and neighbors were the grateful recipient of the bounty of his gardening skills. His passion in life was his family and especially his beloved wife Ann. Visitation will be Thursday, December 20, 2012 from 6 PM until 8 PM at Ridout's Trussville Chapel. Funeral service will be Friday, December 21, 2012 at 11 AM at Ridout's Trussville Chapel. Interment will follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens.
