Grand Island (Nebraska) Independent Tuesday, 5 July 1966 John Wieck, 66, of Doniphan, a lifelong resident of Hall County, died Sunday in a local hospital. Death was due to a circulatory ailment. Arrangements for the funeral service are pending at the Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. Mr. Wieck was born Dec. 18, 1899, to Mr. and Mrs. Franz Wieck on the farm north of Grand Island on Prairie Creek. When he was a young man, he took over the operating of the home farm. He and Miss Christine Goodwin were married Dec. 17, 1946. Mr. and Mrs. Wieck made their home on the farm until Mr. Wieck suffered a circulatory stroke, which made it impossible for him to work on the farm. Six years ago, they moved to Grand Island. In August of 1965, they moved to Doniphan. Mr. Wieck was a member of the Lutheran Church. He is survived by his wife; seven children, Mrs. mary Michelson, Panama City, Florida, and Michael, Joseph, Joan, Margaret, Rose and John, all at home; one brother, Alfred Wieck of Grand Island; five sisters, Mrs. Paul Willis, Mrs. Ivan Bottorf, Mrs. Martha Kostlen, and Mrs. Alma Person, of Grand Island, and Mrs. Rose Spitler of Bellevue, Kan.; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and two sisters.
