☆~ VETERAN, VIETNAM WAR (1955-1975) ~☆ Joseph F. Wieck, Sr., 62, of Alda died Tuesday, April 10, 2012, at his home. Joseph was born Sept. 27, 1949, in Grand Island to John and Christine (Goodwin) Wieck. Joseph was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Wieck. Survivors are: son and daughter-in-law, Joseph, Jr. and Katrina Wieck of Lavon Texas; daughters and sons-in-law, Kama and Hugo Hilerio of Chaparral, N.M., Ammie and Jason Gawrych of Grand Island and Betty and Brandon Jacques of Gibbon; three brothers, Michael Wieck of Alda, John Wieck of Carrollton, Ga., and James Holtz of Central City; sisters, Mary Michaelson of Winston, Ga., Joan Schmidt of Alliance, Ann Wieck of Grand Island and Rose Wieck of Central City; grandchildren, Trentin Sliva, Jazmyn Sliva, Nadia Gawrych and Jacquelyn Hilerio. Joesph grew up in Grand Island, Doniphan and Central City. He entered the United States Army on Oct. 31, 1968, serving during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged on Oct. 20, 1971. Joseph was united in marriage to Peggy Friedrichsen on March 5, 1977, in Marquette. The couple lived in Aurora. He was employed by Dobesh Land Leveling before his retirement. Joseph was a past member of the VFW. He enjoyed collecting, especially coins. Joseph was also preceded in death by his parents. Burial was in the Cameron Cemetery north of Wood River, NE.
