Florence May (Schipper) Ringer (May 8, 1897 - February 18, 1970) The Lusk Herald February 26, 1970 Mrs. Ringer Dies; Services Held Saturday Florence May Ringer, 72, of Keeline died Wednesday, Feb. 18 at the Douglas Hospital. Funeral services were held at the Peet Mortuary in Lusk Saturday at 2:00 p.m. The Rev. Thomas Jacobson of Crawford, Neb., vacancy pastor for St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Lusk, officiated. Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery. Mrs. J. P. Watson, organist, accompanied Dr. Richard Collins, Harry Lyon, Mrs. Don Johnson and Mrs. Ramie Fosher as they sang "The Old Rugged Cross." Casket bearers were Ray Reed, Lloyd Coleman, James Smith, Wilmer Baars, Mick Coen and Lee Thomas. Honorary bearers were Reg Bafford, Allen Heins, Harold Rogers, George Sylvester, Charles Freeman, Dave Poage, Martin Glandt, Pete Owens, Bill Nuttall and Leo Heine. Mrs. Ringer was born May 8, 1897, at Emerson, Iowa, to Benjamin Franklin and Jennie Schipper. She attended schools and grew to womanhood in the Emerson area. When 18 she moved with her parents to Nebraska. February 24, 1920, she married James Ringer at Hemingford, Neb. They moved to Keeline in 1929 where they operated a ranch. Mrs. Ringer was also postmistress of Keeline for eight years. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Lusk, the Lutheran Ladies Aid and the 5280 Club of Keeline. Her parents, husband James and two brothers died previously. Survivors include three daughters, Betty Thomas of Billings, Mont., Bonnie Bauman of Denver, Colo., and Josephine Haworth of Lusk; one son James of Austin, Texas; three sisters, four brothers, six grandchildren, and one great-grandson. _______________________________________________________ "This information is from Niobrara County Library, www.niobraracountylibrary.org"
