Bio
Ed Barta, Verona, dies Edward P. Barta died Monday at his home in Black Loam township. Surviors are Mrs. Barta (nee Lucille Laney) and their children Daniel, Rodney, Ellen and Barbara, and his brothers and sisters, Frank of Winegar, WI, Louis of Lamoure, Irene of St. Paul, Mrs. Thomas Berube of Saxon, WI, Mrs. Melvin Lux of Verona, and his mother, Mrs. Frances Barta of Oakes. Born at Abie, (Butler Co.) NE in 1916, he came with his parents to LaMoure county in 1920 and was married to Miss Laney in 1944 at Verona. He served in the army in WWII. They farmed. Death resulted from a heart attack. Funeral services are today at 9:30 a.m. at St. Raphael's Catholic church of Verona by Fr. F J Preske, with military rites by Verona Legion post and Ft. Ransom VFW post burial at chuch cemetery, Dobmeier Funeral home in charge. Pallbearers are Wilbur Tanner, Vernon Porter, Clifford Peterson, Leo Pritchard, Richard Taylor, Emmet Christenson.
