Bio
Rodney P. "Candyman" Barta, age 59, of Cascade, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday evening, (December 4th) at St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan of an apparent heart attack. Rod was born on May 20, 1952 in LaMoure, ND, to the late Edward and Lucille Laney Barta. He was raised on a farm Northeast of Verona ND until 1958 when he moved with his family to Lisbon, ND. He attended St. Aloysius Catholic Grade School and graduated from Lisbon High School where he participated in football. Rod then went on to graduate from North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton, ND. On June 28, 1980 he married Bonita Potts. He resided in North Dakota until moving to Wisconsin in 1989. Rod worked many years as an over-the-road trucker. He also worked for Tecumseh Products in New Holstein, Aldrich Chemical in Adell and was currently employed at Eclipse Manufacturing in Sheboygan. He was a member of ABATE of Wisconsin for over 10 years and was a former member of the Adell Volunteer Fire Department. Rod loved working with his hands building hot rods and unique style motorcycles and three wheelers. He also enjoyed handing out candy and spending time with his many friends. Even after his life had ended, he still helped people by becoming a bone and eye donor. Rod is survived by his three children: two sons and one daughter; one grandson; and two sisters: He is also survived by other relatives and many friends.
