Grand Island (Nebraska) Independent September 1982 CAIRO - Joseph F. Grabowski, 85, of Cairo died Saturday at his home. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Blessed Sacrament Church in Grand Island. The Rev. Donald O'Brien will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery at Grand Island. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Monday at Apfel Funeral Home in Cairo with a rosary recited at 7:30 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Cairo Quick Response Fund. Mr. Grabowski was born Feb. 16, 1897, at Farwell, the son of Andrew and Katherine Furtak Grabowski. He received his education in rurla Sherman County schools. On May 12, 1925, he married Agnes Baran at Elyria. They farmed in the Ashton area, and in 1940 moved south of Cairo. He retired in 1969 and moved into town. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament parish in Grand Island. Survivors include a widow; a son, Ralph of Omaha; a daughter, Mrs. Harold (Rita) Wooden of Cairo; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Hattie Waskowiak of Loup City, Maggie Koslicki of Grand Island and Barbara Kaminski of Iowa, and a brother, Andrew of Loup City. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, John; a son H.J. "Joe"; two brothers, three sisters, a grandson and two great-grandsons.
