Grand Island Daily independent 20 Oct 1997 Cairo — Agnes V. Grabowski, 93, of Cairo, died Thursday, Oct 16, 1997, at St. Frances Skilled Care Unit in Grand Island. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Grand Island. The Rev. Don Larmore will officiate. burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Grand Island. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. with 7 p.m. rosary, Sunday at Apfel Funeral Home in Cairo. Memorials are suggested to the Cairo Quick Response Team or the church. Mrs. Grabowski was born on Feb. 5, 1904 in rural Valley County to Stanley and Anna Maslonka Beran. She grew up in rural Valley County and attended school there. she helped her parents raise her younger brothers and sisters. She married Joe Grabowski on May 12, 1925 at Boleshzyn Church in Valley County. They lived in Ashton before moving to the Cairo area in February 1940. She was a homemaker and worked at the Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant during World War II. She then babysat children in the Cairo area until she was 80 years old. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and the Blessed Sacrament Altar Society. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, word searches and playing solitaire. Survivors included one daughter, 20 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, five step-great-grandchildren, two great, great-grandchildren and one sister. She was preceded in death by her husband; three sons, Ralph, Jerry and John; one grandchild, two great-grandchildren; four brothers, Anton, Frank, John and Joe; two sisters, Martha Kush and Julia Zulkowski.
