Bio

Eleanor G. Sladecek, 92, of Temple, died Saturday, September 29, 2012, in a local nursing center. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Thursday, October 4, at St. Luke Catholic Church with Rev. James Ekeocha as celebrant. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Granger. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with a rosary being recited at 7 p.m. Eleanor was born in Dimmitt County, Texas, to the late Walter P. and Vlasta (Marek) Petrosky. She married Emil W. Sladecek on May 22, 1955. She had been a resident of Temple since 1972. Eleanor was a homemaker and member of St. Luke Catholic Church. Her husband preceded her in death on March 7, 2007. Survivors include her son, George P. Sladecek and wife, Susie, of Spring; grandchildren, Elizabeth Sladecek, of Oslo, Norway, Jill Morrow and husband, Justin, David Sladecek, all of Houston, and Scott Sladecek, of College Station; brothers, Simon Petrosky, of Eddy, and Leonard Petrosky, of St. Peters, Missouri; sister, Dorothy Mulvey, of Double Oak; many other relatives and friends.
