Lester David Eisenbraun RIVERSIDE, Calif. - Lester David Eisenbraun, Riverside, was called to his Heavenly home Tuesday, July 7, 2009, surrounded by his loving family in Riverside, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born at home in Creighton, SD, he was delivered by grandmother Elizabeth Eisenbraun on Oct. 9, 1934. He was the sixth child born to Herbert and Emma L. (Willuweit) Eisenbraun in a family of 10 children. He was baptized at Emmanuel Lutheran Church on Nov. 18, 1934, and later confirmed his faith in Jesus on May 29, 1950. He attended grade school at Squaw Creek School, North Creighton and later Wall School. He was inducted into the U.S. Army Nov. 20, 1953, through Oct. 10, 1955; where he also received his GED. He was a veteran of the Korean war. Les enjoyed music all his life; was a self-taught guitar player and country western singer. In the early 1950s, he sang on a talent show on TV, when Vern Shephard was a radio and TV announcer. He sang with "Buddy Meredith" and "String Bean" on various occasions. He shared his lovely voice with singing in his church choir, his South Dakota family on family vacations back to South Dakota or whenever his siblings came to California. In the late 1950s, he traveled to South Gate, Calif., and was employed nine years at OK Catering, six years at ROHR Aircraft. During this time he met the "love of his life" Marian Horn. They married April 9, 1960, later residing at Riverside. Here he was employed by County of Riverside Flood Control for 25 years. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Marian; daughters, Terri, Connie and Audry; son-in-law, Nick; grandchildren, August, Tony, Tessa and Jaclyn; five brothers, Delbert and Ivan of Wall, S.D., Andrew of Rapid City, S.D., Paul of Columbus, Ind., and Herbert of Cuyohoga Falls, Ohio; three sisters, Annetta Geigle of Wall, and Esther Carsten and Wanda Goodrich, both of Rapid City; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Emma L. Eisenbraun; his sister, Betty Helms; and nephew, Nathan Eisenbraun. A Celebration of Life service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 15, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 5545 Alessandro Blvd., Riverside, CA 92506.
