Esther L Carsten (86) passed away Feb 15th, 2019 at the hospice house in Rapid City, SD Esther was born June 22, 1932 to Herbert & Emma L (Willuweit) Eisenbraun in the country near Creighton, SD. She was baptized and confirmed at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Creighton, SD. She started her first job at age nine when she worked for her cousin, doing house duties, babysitting, gardening, and shucked grain & picked corn. She worked at various places during summers in the Wall area. In 8th grade Esther worked at the Wall Hospital, doing laundry, making & serving meals, tending to patients. She had great memories of caring for a preemie baby who she still knew until her passing. She did housekeeping, worked at Wall Drug, dishwashing, lots of waitressing, and was a service station attendant. She graduated from Wall High School, attended National School of Business. She married Harold A Davis on January 2, 1954. She did on the job training to become a Dental Assistant; attending weekly classes & took additional training to become certified. Following the death of Harold, she later married Guy Carsten, Sr. on September 2, 1976. She then pursued this career as a Certified Dental Assistant for 30 years in Rapid City, SD & Nashville, TN before working for the VA Hospital Dental Department in Nashville, TN. While being a member of Peace Lutheran Church she took the time to visit patients in nursing homes, was very active in LWML as well as held various offices. She served as President on a local & state level of the Organization of Dental Assistants allowing her to be able to attend the National Convention in Miami Beach, FL in 1996. She enjoyed dancing, fishing, hunting (turkey, deer, and pheasants) and playing games of all nature, including: card games of pinochle, pitch & cribbage. Esther also loved to travel and had the pleasure of visiting 49 states, Canada, Mexico & Germany, France, Luxenberg, and Switzerland in Europe. She is survived by her daughter Bernita ( Myron) Pound of Rapid City, SD, daughter- in – law Kathy Davis of Summerset, SD. Two step sons Guy Carsten II and Gene (Lisa) Carsten of Rapid City, SD. One step daughter Lynnette (Rich) Woods of Lincoln, NE; one sister Wanda (Steve) Goodrich of Rapid City, three brothers Ivan Eisenbraun of Philip , SD, Paul (Kathy) Eisenbraun of Indiana, Andrew (Linda) Eisenbraun of Rapid City, SD; 2 sister-in-law’s, Janet Eisenbraun of Ohio, Marian Eisenbraun of California. Her special friend Judy Johnson of Salt Lake Utah & her extra special angel ‘Crispy’ Pazour of Rapid City SD. 16 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, numerous step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, and step-great-great-grandchildren. Esther was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Harold Davis, second husband Guy L Carsten Sr., son Wesley Davis, daughter-in –law Kristen Davis, step-son Garry Carsten. Two sisters, Elizabeth Helms & Annetta Geigle, three brothers Delbert, Lester & Herbert Eisenbraun. 3 step great grandchildren, infant Marcus James, Kasey, and Mariah. Memorials Requests are to Peace Lutheran Preschool and Zion Lutheran School. A Visitation will be held on Sunday February, 24, 2019 from 3:00pm to 5:00pm at Kirk Funeral Home. Funeral service will be on Monday February 25, 2019 at 10:00am at Peace Lutheran Church. Burial will be at the Black Hills National Cemetery at 1:00pm
