Bio

Louise Hammer of Waco, a former telephone operator for Southwestern Bell, died Saturday at her home. She was 74. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Waco Memorial Park, Monsignor Mark Deering officiating. Mrs. Hammer was born June 14, 1916, in Tours, where she attended school. she later moved to Waco, where she married Leon Hammer Oct. 9, 1943. She retired from Southwestern Bell in 1968. She was a Catholic. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Victoria Lewis and Marjorie Behringer, both of Waco; three sisters, Irene Vrba and Evelyn Vrba, both of Bellmead, and Estelle Veselka of Waco; and three grandchildren. Wilkirson-Hatch Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Waco Tribune Herald, June 9, 1991
