JEZEK, LEW—Lew Jezek, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alois Jezek Sr., was born at Milligan, Neb., February 1, 1908. He passed away Thursday, February 6, 1964, at Geneva at the age of 56 years and 5 days. July 25, 1928, he was married to Ollie Mae Cummings of Tobias. To this union were born a daughter Betty and a son Robert. He grew up and attended at Milligan, working with his father who owned and operated a meat market. He spent 18 months in Hawaii working in the shipyards for the Navy during World War II. He served as Fillmore county engineer for a 10-year period from 1950 until 1960. He enjoyed his work but a serious illness kept him from carrying it on as he wished. The past three years he was maintenance man at Meridian Court housing project in Geneva. Fishing with his grandson was one of his pleasures. He is survived by his wife Ollie; daughter Betty (Mrs. Ronald Barnett) and husband of Geneva; his son Robert and wife Carol of Hastings, three grandchildren, Jon and Mary Jezek and Nancy Barnett; his mother, Barbara Jezek of Milligan; a sister, Mrs. Ed. Bulin, and husband of Milligan; a brother, William Jezek and wife Janet of Los Angeles; three nephews, two nieces and numerous other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Alois Jezek Sr.; a brother, James Jezek, and a granddaughter, Susan Barnett. Funeral services were held Saturday, February 8, at 2 p. m. at the Kritner-Farmer funeral home in Geneva with Rev. Alden B. Sears officiating. Mrs. Gerald Pickerell, accompanied by Mrs. Willard H. Foster sang “Beautiful Isle.” Pallbearers were Marlin Bahe, William Bohlen, John Halama, Fred Placek, Lumir Slepicka and John Turek. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery.
