Bruno, April 11 - It was with great sorrow that this community learned of the death of Joseph J. Novacek, which occurred on Friday, April 7, at 6:15 p. m. Feeling quite recovered from a ten-day siege of influenza, Mr. Novacek, Mr. Novacek, who had been organist in St. Anthony's Catholic church at Bruno for the past 20 years, attended divine service at St. Anthony's Sunday, April 2, in order to assist choir. Two days later pneumonia set in, rapidly affecting both lungs, and in spite of all medical aid and loving care could do caused his death in three days time. His age was 37 years. Mr. Novacek was an honest, intelligent, upright man, a devout Catholic and an uplifting influence in the community. The funeral services were in charge of the Catholic lodges of which he was a member and were held at St. Anthony's church at 10 o'clock Monday morning. Rev. Father Zalud, of Bee, assisted by Rev. Father Bauer, celebrated Requiem High Mass. Rev. Father Bauer preached the funeral oration and Rev. Father Zalud spoke of the personal life of the deceased. The church was crowded with those who came to pay their last tribute to a character all respected. Interment was in the Catholic cemetery. Mr. Novacek is survived by his wife and four children, Joseph, Mary, Martha and John, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Novacek, Sr., two brothers, Frank and Vincent, and two sisters, Mrs. Agnes Rerucha and Miss Mary Novacek, all residing near Bruno.
