Born in the village of Sedlec, town of Namest, county of Znojmo, Moravia, Austrian Empire (now in the Czech Republic). '''''''''''''' Peoples Banner (David City, Nebr.), May 15, 1930, p. 9, col. 2 BRUNO Joseph F. Novacek Funeral services for Joseph F. Novacek, respected citizen of this community, who died at his home at noon on April 27th, after an illness of a year, were held on Tuesday morning from the home to St. Anthony's church, Rev. Father Bauer saying Requiem Mass and conducting the burial service. Interment was made in St. Anthony's Catholic cemetery. The pallbearers were John Kobza, Chas. Kobza, Joseph Kobza, James Kobza, James Wittera and Jacob Brom. The Catholic Workmen and Western Union Lodge of which Mr. Novacek was a member, attended in a body, acting as honorary escort. Joseph F. Novacek, son of Frank and Mary Novacek, was born in Sedlec, Moravia, Czecho-Slovakia, on December 7, 1858, being 71 years 4 months and 20 days of age at his death. At the age of 16 years, he immigrated to the United States with his parents, coming directly to Butler county, where he had resided continuously for the past 56 years. He was married to Miss Frantiska Kobza on June 3, 1884, and to this union were born three sons and six daughters. One son, Joseph, and four daughters, Mary, Frances, Julia and Elinore preceded their father in death. Mr. Novacek was a farmer, but in the early days, he discontinued farming for a period of about twelve years, to conduct a store in Linwood. The family then moved to a farm near Bruno where they lived until three years ago, when Mr. and Mrs. Novacek retired from farm life and moved to Bruno. Mr. Novacek was a good Christian man, kindly and forbearing in his attitude toward his fellowman. He was a devout Catholic and much of the time during his long illness was spent in prayer and meditation, preparing his soul for the coming meeting with his Creator. He is survived by his wife, two sons, Frank and Vincenc of Bruno, and two daughters, Mrs. Agnes (J. A.) Rerucha of Bruno and Mrs. Mary (Joseph) Vrana of Prague and a number of grandchildren, to whom the sympathy of the entire community is extended.
