Born in the village of Litovany #42, town of Hrotovice, Moravia, Austrian Empire (now in the Czech Republic), the son of Petr Čapoun and Františka Muzikářová. The passenger list for the SS/ Neckar , which arrived in New York City via Bremen, Germany (via Southampton, England) on April 3, 1875 includes Ignac Capoun (age 34), Josefa (32), Johann (9½), and Franz (6), all from Moravia. According to the 1880 and 1885 census records he was born in Moravia and farmed in Skull Creek township, Butler County, Nebr. with his wife and sons. The 1900 census states he was born July 1841 in Bohemia, had been married 32 years, emigrated to the United States in 1874, and was a retired farmer. At that time he lived in Skull Creek township with his wife. Married (2) Mrs. Anna (Uracek) Kutna on November 2, 1901 at David City, Nebr. by a County Judge. The deceased was 75 years old and an old pioneer of Nebraska. The remains were buried at the Catholic cemetery, Rev. Zalud having charge of the services.
