Born in the village of Strampouch, county of Caslav, Bohemia, Austrian Empire (now in the Czech Republic). Son of Jan and Anna Vavrina and brother of Antonie (Vavrina) Schmid . According to his probate file he died December 18, 1923 and was survived by his wife Mary and three children: Louis (age 41) of Abie, Jerry L. (33) of Brainard, and Emma Mashek (44) of Abie. Four grandchildren are also mentioned (children of his deceased son Vincent): Edward (17) and Leo Vavrina (13), both of Abie, and Helen (19) and Bertha Casper (21), also of Abie. ''''''''' Butler County Press (David City, Nebr.), December 27, 1923, p. 8, col. 2 Abie Vaclav Vavrina, 73 years of age, for many years a resident of Butler county, near Abie, died at his home in Abie Sunday, after an illness of several years due to paralysis. He was born in Bohemia and came to America in June, 1879, coming direct to Butler county, where he had lived since. Mr. Vavrina is survived by his wife, two sons, Louis of Abie and Jerold of Dwight, and one daughter, Mrs. E. J. Mashek, of Abie, and eleven grandchildren. He also leaves one sister, Mrs. Antonia Smid, of Schuyler. Funeral services were held in Sts. Peter's and Paul's church and interment was in the Catholic cemetery. Mr. Vavrina was a faithful member of the Catholic church through life. He was highly regarded by all and had a host of friends.
