Born in Moravia, Austria (now in the Czech Republic), the daughter of Frantisek and Maria (Spevak) Stava. Married Joseph Simond on June 17, 1874 at Fremont, Nebr. by Rev. John Lonergan, Catholic priest. `````````````` Butler County Press (David City, Nebr.), July 13, 1922, p. 10, col. 3 [under Abie column] Mrs. Mary Simond died at her home one mile south of Abie early Monday morning, after several weeks of illness. Rev. Father Mlejnek conducted the funeral services. Burial was in the Catholic cemetery at Abie. Mrs. Simond is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Chladek, living near Abie. Three daughters, Mrs. Fannie Vidlak and Julie and Josie Simond, preceded their mother to the grave.
