Daughter of Jiri and Magdalena (Vojta) Vrba. Married Joseph Roubal on October 30, 1889 at SS Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church, Plasi, Nebraska (Saunders County Marriages, Vol. 8, p. 281, no. 356). Witnesses were James Jeleny and Andrew Vojta. '''''''''''''''''' Butler County Press (David City, Nebr.), March 25, 1943, p. 1, col. 5 DEATH OF AN ABIE MAN BORN IN CZECHOSLOVAKIA Joseph Roubal Passed Away March 15 in Abie Home Abie, March 23 – Funeral services for Joseph Roubal, 74, who passed away at his home Monday morning, March 15, were held in Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic church Wednesday, March 17, at 9:30 a.m. Rev. Boniface Tomek, O.S.B., conducted the services and members of the church choir furnished the music. Burial was in the Abie Catholic cemetery with members of the Catholic Workmen lodge, of which Mr. Roubal was a member of long standing, acting as pallbearers. They were: Jack Berovic, Joseph Roh, Vincent Shimerka, James Shorney, Sr., James Vidlak and Leonard Vidlak. Those from away in attendance at the funeral services were: Charles Fryzek of Omaha, Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Shimerka of Prague, Mr. and Mrs. Anton Sisel of Loma, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Smith of David City, Mrs. Joseph Nozicka and Messrs. and Mesdames Anton Divis, Edward Kopecky, Martin Roubal and Anton Roubal of Bruno. Born in Oboc, Czechoslovakia February 5, 1869, Mr. Roubal came to America with his parents when thirteen years of age. He was united in marriage to Miss Katherine Verba at Prague in 1889 and the Roubal home was in that vicinity until 39 years ago when the family came to Abie. For fifteen years Mr. Roubal engaged in the saloon business and since that time Mr. Roubal was retired. Mrs. Roubal preceded Mr. Roubal in death, having passed away in May, 1936. The eldest son, Joseph, died at the age of six months. There are seven surviving children, as follows: Jacob of Central City, Mrs. Mary Shimerka, Mrs. Barbara Brecka, Mrs. Clemie Voboril and James Roubal of Abie and Rudolph and Jerry Roubal of Omaha, also 17 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He leaves a brother, Martin, of Bruno. Two brothers, John and James, and one sister, Mrs. Jacob Zeleny, have passed away. Since Mrs. Roubal's death, a son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Voboril, have made their home with Mr. Roubal. In all his activities Mr. Roubal was ever kind and loyal, making many warm friendships which have endured throughout the years. He will be missed greatly by all who knew him.
