Born in the village of M. Outechovicky, town of Pacov, county of Tabor, Bohemia, Austrian Empire (now in the Czech Republic). 1870 census (York Township, Tama County, Iowa): Vencel Roh (age 34, farmer, born Bohemia), Mary (wife, 35, housekeeping, Bohemia), Mary (daughter, 6, Bohemia), Anna (daughter, 4, Bohemia), Franciska (daughter, 3, Iowa), and Agnes (daughter, 1, Iowa). 1883 newspaper article ( The Columbus [Nebr.] Journal , June 20, 1883, p. 3, col. 1): In the family of Vaclav Roh of Butler the diphtheria is raging; two members have died. 1885 census (Linwood Township, Butler County, Nebr.): Vaclaw Roh (age 49, farmer, born Bohemia), Mary (wife, 51, keeps house, Bohemia), Francis (daughter, 20, Bohemia), Anistasie (daughter, 16, Bohemia), Frank (son, 14, Iowa), Vaclav (son, 10, Iowa), --- [ no name ] (son, 2, Nebr.), Frank Reda (servant, 18, Bohemia), and Bedrich Slama (servant, 23, Bohemia). 1900 census (Linwood Township, Butler County, Nebr.): Vaclav Roh (born May 1838, Bohemia, farmer, immigrated 1867), Mary (wife, September 1835, Bohemia, immigrated 1867, married 38 years, mother of eight children, five living), James (son, July 1869, Iowa, farm laborer), Joseph (son, May 1883, Nebr., farm laborer), Frank Cember (servant, Oct 1883, Nebr., farm laborer), and Mary Ratkovec (servant, May 1883, Moravia, immigrated 1894). ''''''''''' Butler County Press (David City, Nebr.), January 14, 1937, p. 1, col. 6 DIED IN HIS 99TH YEAR. PASSING OF VACLAV ROH. He Had Lived in Butler County for Over 60 Years. Vaclav Roh, of Abie, resident of Butler county for over 60 years, died at his home in Abie Tuesday evening, Jan. 5, after illness of a week due to his advanced age. Had he lived until May 16 he would have been 99 years old. Funeral services were held at St. Peter's and Paul's Catholic church, Abie, of which Mr. Roh was a charter member, at 10 o'clock Friday morning, and burial was in the Abie parish cemetery. Born at Vojtechov, Bohemia, May 16, 1838, Mr. Roh grew to young manhood there and was married in 1861 to Marie Adamova. They came to American six years later and lived in Iowa until 1875, when they came to Nebraska and Butler county, locating on a farm 1½ miles east of Abie, that being their home until 1914, when they moved to Abie. Mrs. Roh passed away November 8, 1916. Four of the eight Roh children survive their father, Mrs. Mary Beranek of Abie, F. J. Roh of North Bend and W. F. and J. F. Roh of Abie. Four daughters and six grandchildren preceded him in death. He is also survived by 42 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
