BRIDGES, Mrs. Jettye - Birmingham Post, October 30, 1924, page 9. Funeral services for Mrs. Bridges, 40, who died yesterday at a local infirmary, will be held at 10:30 o'clock tomorrow from the Hunter St. Baptist Church. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery by Echols & Angwin. Mrs. Bridges is survived by her husband and two daughters. Jettye Langston Bridges was born June 22, 1883 in Detroit, Lamar/Marion County, Alabama to James Francis Furman Langston, s/o John E. Langston and Hester Martha Rodgers, and Martha Jane Byrd, daughter of John Kirk Byrd and Caroline Moore Byrd of Monroe County, Mississippi. Jettye married James Estelle Bridges, s/o Lucine Marceline Bridges and Cordelia E. Brock Bridges, on October 18, 1908, in Eupora, Webster County, Mississippi. Children of Jettye and James E. Bridges were: Othenia Estelle Bridges McWhirter, and Mattie Ruth Bridges. Jettye died October 29, 1924, in the Birmingham, Baptist Hospital in Birmingham, Jefferson County, Alabama at age 41 years, 4 months & 7 days. Her Death Certificate stated she died from respiratory failure with Contributory factor as cancer of the cervix. She was buried in Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham, Jefferson County, Alabama with her husband and youngest daughter.(GMT)
